Antiplane shear of an asymmetric sandwich plate

چکیده

Abstract An asymmetric three-layered laminate with prescribed stresses along the faces is considered. The outer layers are assumed to be much stiffer than inner one. focus on long-wave low-frequency anti-plane shear. Asymptotic analysis of original dispersion relation reveals a harmonic supporting slow quasi-static (or static at limit) decay near cut-off wave propagation. In spite asymmetry problem, leading order shortened polynomial factorises into two simpler ones corresponding fundamental mode and aforementioned harmonic. associated 1D equations motion derived in paper also split second-order operators line factorisation relation. Asymptotically justified boundary conditions established using Saint-Venant’s principle modified by taking account high-contrast properties laminate.

Numerical Computations For Shear Bands in an Antiplane Shear Model

We study numerically a model for shear bands that is loosely based on anti-plane shearing of granular material. In the model, a shear band is idealized to a jump discontinuity in the solution to the dynamic PDE. We do not explicitly incorporate small scale eeects within the shear band into the model{rather at the shear band we impose a jump condition which includes a length parameter modeling t...

Applications of higher order shear deformation theories on stress distribution in a five layer sandwich plate

In this paper, layerwise theory (LT) along with the first, second and third-order shear deformation theories (FSDT, SSDT and TSDT) are used to determine the stress distribution in a simply supported square sandwich plate subjected to a uniformly distributed load. Two functionally graded (FG) face sheets encapsulate an elastomeric core while two epoxy adhesive layers adhere the core to the face ...

The asymmetric sandwich theorem

We discuss the asymmetric sandwich theorem, a generalization of the Hahn–Banach theorem. As applications, we derive various results on the existence of linear functionals that include bivariate, trivariate and quadrivariate generalizations of the Fenchel duality theorem. Most of the results are about affine functions defined on convex subsets of vector spaces, rather than linear functions defin...

Antiplane Shear Waves in Two Contacting Ferromagnetic Half Spaces

The problem of reflection and refraction of antiplane shear (or magneto-elastic) waves at the interface between two ferromagnetic half-spaces with slipping contact (vacuum gap) is studied for waves propagating normal to the direction of the applied external magnetic field which is assumed to be parallel to the interface. We show the existence of new waves that are localized near the interface b...

Regularized meshless method for antiplane shear problems with multiple inclusions

In this paper, we employ the regularized meshless method to solve antiplane shear problems with multiple inclusions. The solution is represented by a distribution of double-layer potentials. The singularities of kernels are regularized by using a subtracting and adding-back technique. Therefore, the troublesome singularity in the method of fundamental solutions (MFS) is avoided and the diagonal...
